3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing in Proverbs: right vs wrong. DO THIS and THERE’S NO NEED to WORRY! “Truthful lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only for a moment” (Proverbs 12:19). (Truth is eternal. A lying tongue lasts as long as a wink.) God looks after those who love the truth and speak the truth; under His blessing they will be established forever. The lying tongue may continue to utter its falsehood for long years by the calendars of men, but when placing those years next to God’s calendar, they are as a moment, as nothing. If one lies they will have to tell more lies to cover up the first, and will eventually be discovered; the net result will prove him a fool.  But one who tells the truth never needs to worry about being discovered; others will trust and respect an honest man. Always tell the truth.  The New Testament says: “Never pay back evil for evil to anyone; respect what is right in the sight of all men” (Romans 12:17). Provide things honest before all men. Christians unite:”…for we have regard for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men” (11Corinthians 8:21). Honesty and truth are wonderful. *****

//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. Lord, heal our land, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.

  1. Today’s devotion really hit home to me. In my much younger years it was very easy to have a lie roll off my lips. I realize what Proverbs is talking about and how one lie requires another. When I became a Christian one of the first things that I realized was that Satan is the father of lies and that God hates a liar. The choice was easy for me. Dwell in truth and my life has been blessed by God my Father. Also, incredible peace comes with truth!
