3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues. ENHANCE YOUR LOVE LIFE WITH THIS CHEAP and EASY GIFT! “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad” (Proverbs 12:25). (Anxiety causes depression. A good, encouraging, or sympathetic word works wonders in perking someone up again.) A heavy heart carries weighty burdens that make it stoop, it is a soul pressed down by cares, circumstances, and troubles. It’s cruel to dance around those hurting individuals; weep with them instead (Romans 12:15; 1 Corinthians 12:26). An unexpressed nice thought about another person is worthless, but a cheap and easy gift is to give away a kind word. Our speech is often used to cut and hurt, but considerate words in love can be very helpful. Kind, complimentary, encouraging words of truth can cheer a heavy heart or sad spirit. It will cost you nothing and can make a sad heart glad. Our goal should be to edify and build up one another. To gladden a sad heart by a good word is to lay another brick for eternal life. Parent’s lives can be enriched by hearing good words from their children, and children’s obedience will improve if parents use kind words. A tender word to one’s spouse can enhance a love life! Encourage a policeman by a kind word, be a friendly neighbor, uplift a pastor with a word of appreciation to him, thank your boss with a good word, encourage me by clicking below on “Like” 🙂 or leave a good word in the “reply” section here on this page of today’s devotion. What a cheap way to be rich to others! *****

There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing in Proverbs: righteous compared to wicked. SECRET FOR GETTING RICH!  “The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slack hand will be put to forced labor” (Proverbs 12:24). (In the ordinary course of life, dedicated, diligent people rise to positions of leadership. Laziness leads to poverty, and poverty reduces man to the level of forced labor.) Deceitfulness and idleness are generally companions of the slothful, and such persons seek to gain by fraudulent trickery and dishonesty by what they cannot, or will not, get by honest labor. The lazy descend inevitably to become paupers and servants. But the hand of the diligent shall rule (shall become rich); for it is only hard work that works! Men/women who take pains in an honest employment will gain in interest and reputation. For the one who makes wise use of their eyes and ears, and learns their trade; the better one will know his business and be more likely to rise up in it. There is always room at the top for anyone who is willing to be a hard worker. Have a blessed Sunday. *****

Devotions @ 3 on 11-17-18

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues: righteous vs. wicked. IT’S EASY TO SPOT YOU in a CROWD! “A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly” (Proverbs 12:23). (A prudent man doesn’t go around showing off how much he knows. He modestly conceals his learning. But you aren’t long in the presence of fools before they reveal their foolishness.) A wise man can keep his mouth shut even when he knows more on a subject than anyone in the group. A fool cannot keep his mouth shut, even when he basically knows nothing, for his heart demands that he keep on with foolishness. A prudent man is wise and generally reserved. He knows when to do what, and how to do it. He has knowledge but does not easily share it. He speaks when he is spoken to but saves his opinion until asked, then cuts his words in half. He knows that it is better to listen than to speak. New Testament scripture says, “This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God” (James 1:19-20).  That man is easy to spot in a crowd, for he will be carefully listening more than easily talking. But a fool has a fire in his heart that sets his tongue ablaze! This fire comes from hell (see James 3:1-12). The fool is also easy to spot in a crowd, for he cannot stop talking, and his words are obnoxious chattering of foolishness. Jesus said, all words come from the heart. “The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil, for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart” (Luke 6:45). A fool does not delight in understanding, but only in airing his mistaken opinions, blurting out words that sound like wisdom to him alone, and displaying his ignorance. A fool quickly vents all his anger, but a wise man holds it back. A prudent man conceals his knowledge until the right opportunity to bring it forth presents itself. One can pick them out in a crowded room. Who are the prudent? Who are the fools?*****

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

The book of Proverbs continues to compare righteous and wicked. HOW TO EASILY OBTAIN GOD’S FAVOR! “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight” (Proverbs 12:22). (God hates liars. One should be very careful about shading of the truth, white lies, exaggerations, and half-truths. A sure way of bringing delight to His heart is by being absolutely honest and trustworthy.) One can easily obtain God’s favor by honesty and truth. Simply speak the truth and be a man/woman of your word. In all your dealings, embrace honesty and integrity. In your speech and action, be honest. All conduct should be governed by integrity and sincerity. Say exactly what is right and true; reject exaggerating or modification of facts; be a person of perfect integrity in word and deed. Do you desire life; want to see good days? Will the Lord delight in you; does He hear your prayer? (See 1 Peter 3:10.) God promises blessings and favor to those who are totally honest and truthful. *****

//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. Lord, heal our land, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues to provide wisdom on right and wrong. REWARDS for JUST MEN “No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble” (Proverbs 12:21). (In a general sense, it is true that no grave trouble happens to the righteous; however, this is not a rule without exception. What is true without exception is that the just are preserved from the evil consequences that follow the behavior of the wicked. The wicked get plenty of this type of trouble.) The wicked seem to get away with sin but only for a little while. Sin does not pay and the choice to do so will result in punishment. Choose to sin, choose to suffer! However, there is a reward for just (righteous) men – they will be sheltered from trouble. There is a force at work – GOD. He will not allow sinners to get away with sin. The way of the transgressor is hard (Proverbs 13:15); their paths are like a hedge of thorns and snares (Proverbs 15:19; 22:5). But a man keeping his soul by holy living avoids these problems (Proverbs 16:17; 19:16; 22:5). Choose this day to serve Him with your whole heart.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing to look at Proverbs: righteous vs. wicked. IMAGINE THIS! “Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy” (Proverbs 12:20). (Treachery fills the heart of those who plan wickedness. Joy fills the heart of those who pursue peace.) Those who imagine evil against others are liars and will be punished for it. It begins in the heart with evil thoughts about other people. Rather than dealing honestly and truthfully with others best interests in mind, there will be bitter resentment, hateful envy, corrupt dealings and lies to pursue a wicked agenda; with the use of deceit, corruption, theft, and/or hurtful words. Take a look at what will happen if one harbors envy or strife in your heart. (See James 3:14-16; 4:16-17.) Righteous men pursue peace with their words and advice. They use truth to heal and strengthen; they desire good and peace. God will bless them with joy and happy lives. May peace and unity be with you, my friend. *****
