3 a.m. prayer:
Most gracious heavenly Father,
The Bible’s book of Proverbs continues: The contrasts between righteous and wicked lives! “The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom (wise counsel; proper fruit), but the perverted tongue (not wisdom, but folly and wickedness) will be cut out. The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverted” (Proverbs 10:31-32). A good man’s mouth is like a tree that brings forth blossoms of wisdom; speaks wisely for the benefit of others. Speech that is crooked or perverse will be cut out; it is sin and will be the ruin of many a wicked man. One can depend on a good man/woman to say what is acceptable. The wicked one knows only how to distort the facts and speak what is perverse and displeasing to God. The righteous is kept by the power of God; and nothing can separate him from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. How are you using God’s gift of speech? *****
//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. Lord, heal our land, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.
