3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues with right and wrong. THE LORD KNOWS! “The perverse in heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless in their walk are His delight” (Proverbs 11:20). (As far as the Lord is concerned, a heart that is false is hateful and disgusting. He likes the person who is straightforward. No view of God is complete unless it is understood that He is capable of knowing all and seeing all.) Some men/women who are stubborn, rebellious, obnoxious, perverse, sinful, are an abomination to God. Others who are humble, honest,, and choose right living, are His delight. What will you do with your heart and life? *****

//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. Lord, heal our land, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.
And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who has overcome the battle of being an enabler, we rejoice.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Out of Proverbs, right vs. wrong. SOUL FOOD – ONE or the OTHER: LIFE or DEATH! “He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life, and he who pursues evil will bring about his own death” (Proverbs 11:19). Everlasting, eternal life, is the subject here. (All conduct leads in one of two directions – either life or to death.) To be steadfast in righteousness one must have a right relationship with God. Righteousness leads to eternal life. Pursuing evil will take every sinner to eternal torment in the lake of fire. Scripture from the New Testament reads: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). (Vivid contrasts: Two masters: sin and God. Two methods: wages and free gift. Two aftermaths: death and eternal life.) Eternal life is found in a Person, and that Person is Christ Jesus. All who are in Christ have eternal life. It’s as simple as that! *****

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who has overcome the battle of drug dependency, we rejoice.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing in Proverbs, comparing right with wrong. FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL! “The wicked earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness gets a true reward” (Proverbs 11:18). (It is true that evil people often seem to grow rich overnight, but their wealth is unsatisfying, unenduring, and unable to help them when they need it most. On the other hand, the rewards of a righteous life are real and permanent.) Many spend their entire lives seeking after money and riches, playing by their own rules, cheating others, thinking they have made their way to the top; only to realize it will disappear the moment they die. The wise, the godly, work hard to earn an honest paycheck in which to provide for their families; they  seek out that which will bring them a real return for their labor and efforts. All will stand before God, so each and every day treat life as a distance run, not a sprint. Make choices that would be pleasing to Him; invest in a relationship with God, then comes the full reward.

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who has overcome the battle of alcohol addiction, we rejoice.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing in Proverbs, comparisons of right and wrong. WELL, THAT’S JUST THE WAY I AM! “The merciful man does himself good, but the cruel man does himself harm” (Proverbs 11:17). Not all, but many health issues are the direct result of a person’s disposition. (The kind person has more of an advantage in avoiding indigestion, paralysis and loss of sensation caused by blood clots or brain hemorrhage, gastrointestinal and heart trouble, which is, in many cases, brought on by himself/herself. A cruel disposition takes it’s toll on the body; such temperament causes trouble to his/her own flesh.) See Ecclesiastes 5:18-20: (Be satisfied with what the Lord has given you. Life is very brief; why not enjoy it while you can?. Do not brood over the shortness of life, or it’s tragedies and iniquities; instead, be filled with the joy of present circumstances.)  Having a good disposition is good for a person’s soul.

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who has to approach someone about a touchy subject, we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs from the Bible: right vs. wrong. PLAIN and SIMPLE WISDOM with 10 WORDS! “A gracious woman attains honor, and ruthless men attain riches” (Proverbs 11:16). (To have a good name, one in which people will love, respect, and want to be around, a woman needs to learn graciousness, quietness, and practice it. A man needs the strength to make wise choices, ability to resist temptation when it comes to financial matters, and be not wasteful; be disciplined.) There are no shortcuts to success! God’s word is the ultimate authority. Humbly seek Him; He will give you wisdom and strength in which to acquire those traits. *****

There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.
And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who is seeking to have a closer walk with God, we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues with right vs. wrong. GUARANTEED TROUBLE! “He who is guarantor (surety) for a stranger will surely suffer for it, but he who hates being a guarantor is secure” (Proverbs 11:15). (To be surety for a stranger means to guarantee, or be responsible, for his debt or promissory note. The one who does this will suffer for it by paying a stinging penalty. On the other hand, the one who hates suretyship saves himself a lot of headaches.) To make oneself responsible, or liable, for another’s debt when they are unable to pay, is like falling into a trap. But isn’t this a form of kindness to help a friend?  Guaranteeing to pay another’s debt brings big trouble! You will come to regret it. You may be enabling him to buy something which is not God’s will for him to have. You might be encouraging him/her to be a spendthrift or even a gambler. If you sign for him and he defaults, you end up paying for something that is not your own; friendship will end and bitterness will begin. It would be better to give money outright if there is a legitimate need. In any case, to avoid trouble, one should not become surety for another. Scriptures counsel believers to “hate” being a guarantor. It’s not to make us stingy; it’s for our protection, and for the protection of relationships, so that we can be of long-term encouragement and a blessing to those with whom we live and love.*****

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who thinks not of themselves, rather the needs of another, we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Proverbs continues: right vs. wrong! THE WISE RELY on MORE THAN ONE SET of EYES! “Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory” (Proverbs 11:14). (Without wise leadership and statesmanship, the people are bound to fall into trouble. On the other hand, there is safety in having the combined judgment of many good counselors.) What one may not see, another may see; and what one or two see, others may be able to discern. Have a blessed Sunday!

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For one who is seeking wisdom, we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

The Bible’s book of Proverbs continues to compare right from wrong. SENSIBLE or SENSELESS! “He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding keeps silent.” (To belittle another is to insult God, to hurt the man, to invite strife, and to help no one. A man of understanding  knows that it is better to say nothing if he can’t praise or edify.) “He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy conceals a matter” (Proverbs 11:12-13). A talebearer seems to take malicious delight in spreading scandal, informing on others, and breaking confidences. He doesn’t hold anything back, but tells everything he knows.) From the New Testament: “At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention” (1Timothy 5:13). (A faithful friend knows how to maintain a confidence and to refrain from talking.)  A senseless man is not wise, is untrustworthy, and foolish, tears down his neighbor, spreads gossip and contempt. However, one who is sensible holds onto peace, builds up another; if he cannot speak good of his neighbor he says nothing at all, thereby showing he/she is one of understanding, intellectual, wise, prudent, and is faithful to his friends and neighbors. “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins” (1Peter 4:8). The first rule is Love.

//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Our study in Proverbs continues, right compared to wrong. BUILD IT UP or TEAR IT DOWN! “By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down” (Proverbs 11:11). (The blessing of the upright may refer to their prayers for the community, or to the benefits which their presence and godly influence bring to the city. The deceit, broken promises, fraud, and profanity of the wicked are enough to ruin any local government.) Scripture says, “First of all, then I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgiving, be made on behalf of all men; for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2:1-4). Paul concluded: prayers for all men is both a privilege and an obligation, for we are debtors to all with the reference to the good news of salvation. In praying for all men, we should be humble, worshipful, trustful, and thankful. A Christian should pray for his government and not engage in a revolution or violence.) We should pray for all men everywhere. Jesus described His followers as: “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men” (Matthew 5:13). (We should be to the world what salt is in everyday life. Salt seasons food, it hinders the spread of corruption; it creates thirst, it brings out the flavor. Salt acts as a preservative, and makes others long for righteousness. If one fails to exhibit spiritual reality, men will tread his testimony under their feet. The world has only contempt for an undedicated believer.) Be the salt of the earth by living out the terms of discipleship.

And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who feels afraid, we pray.

3 a.m. prayer:
Most gracious heavenly Father,
Continued from the book of Proverbs: right vs. wrong. OCCASIONS IN WHICH TO CELEBRATE! “When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting” (Proverbs 11:10). (Two occasions when a city breaks out in joyful celebration are when the righteous prosper and when the wicked perish.)  When principles of the highest morality govern the life of the city there is rejoicing everywhere, because where righteousness is, the blessing of God is; and the blessing of God abounds in richness, not sorrow. When the wicked man perishes there is shouting of gladness because he did nobody any lasting good. While everyone is proud to recall a righteous man, it is not so with the wicked one.*****

There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.
And so we begin, “Just for Today”: For anyone who is awaiting results from a medical procedure, we pray.
