3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

The Bible’s book of Proverbs continues: Righteous vs. Wicked Lives! One of the most important lessons of the Bible is repeated: The righteous will be blessed and the wicked will be cursed! “The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not dwell in the land” (Proverbs 10:30). (God guarantees a dwelling place to the righteous, but the wicked will be exiles and vagabonds.) Blessed lives of the righteous are men and women who fear and love God, trust and obey His Word for every decision in life, and despises and rejects false and deceitful lifestyles of the world around them. In contrast, cursed lives of the wicked are men and women who fear men and love money, trust and obey the world’s ideas, and despise and reject the wisdom of God. Oh, how many have read the repetitive warnings and truths and how few have altered their lives to please Him and obtain His blessings! What will you do with this warning? Have a blessed Sunday. *****

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing our Bible study from the book of Proverbs: Contrasting Righteous and Wicked Lives. WORRY KILLS! “The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be shortened. The hope of the righteous is gladness, but the expectation of the wicked perishes. The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, but ruin to the workers of iniquity” (Proverbs 10:27-29). (A devout life leads to longevity. Wicked men are cut off prematurely.) The prospect of the righteous is joy; the things looked forward to by the righteous will be realized with gladness. Not so with the wicked – their hopes will be thoroughly disappointed – the expectation of the wicked perishes! The Lord proves to be a tower of strength for the upright, but is destruction to evildoers. Worry kills, but confidence in God is like healing medicine. Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. We have all the instructions to live a long life. While we are alive, Jesus will be with us; when we die, we will be with Jesus.  *****

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing in the Bible’s book of Proverbs: Righteous vs. Wicked Lifestyles! Cold, sharp and sour is vinegar. Offensive, negligent and annoying is the sluggard! “Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy one to those who send him” (Proverbs 10:26). (Vinegar is hurtful to the teeth, and smoke is irritating to the eyes. In the same way, a lazy messenger who dillydallies on the way proves exasperating, frustrating, and annoying to those who send him out on business.) One ought not be slothful in their work, but fervent in spirit, as in serving the Lord.  *****

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing Proverbs: Righteous vs Wicked! The Whirlwind & The Sure Foundation! “When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation” (Proverbs 10:25). (When the whirlwind of God’s judgment passes by, the wicked is nowhere to be found. But the righteous person is established on the Rock of Ages; nothing can ever move him.) The resemblance of a wicked man to a whirlwind: both destructive, have ruined their own lives and that of many others by their selfish, unscrupulous behavior. They often burst forth with sudden fury, and seem beyond the control of ordinary laws and methods of operation. A whirlwind often descends upon a peaceful valley without any warning and destroys everything in it’s path; like the wicked man, lawless, not guided by principle but by passion and impulse which no one can foretell his next act of violence or who will be his next victim. The whirlwind passes and so does the wicked. However, the righteous man is an everlasting foundation: his character is something to build upon (nothing can be built upon a whirlwind) but a substantial structure can be raised upon a good foundation. Like an anchor, hope and a solid ground of confidence is built upon the word and character of a good and righteous man. This is especially true of the ideal man, Christ Jesus, He is the righteous one. His promises are as anchors of the soul to the children of men. Upon His character rests all their hopes for their own blessedness in the future, and for the restoration of a fallen world.  *****

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing from the Bible’s good book of Proverbs: Righteous vs. Wicked Lifestyles! Shame or Glory? Terror or Delight? “What the wicked fears will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted” (Proverbs 10:24). (The calamity which is dreaded by the wrongdoer will descend on him. The desire of the righteous -the will of God in this life and the presence of God in the next – will be granted.) It’s an individual’s choice to live wickedly or righteously. If living wickedly, expect to have your fears come true and an interruption to your life. Moses warned Israel, “You have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 23b.) If pursuing righteousness, expect to have your desires granted. To each one of us, the God of the universe will either inflict shame or grant glory. The righteous shall be blessed. Delight in the Lord! *****

Devotions @ 3 on 9-11-18

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Continuing our study in Proverbs: Contrasting Righteous and Wicked Lives! “Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool, and so is wisdom to a man of understanding” (Proverbs 10:23).  (A fool delights in wicked schemes and amuses himself by getting into trouble or causing trouble for others; it’s his favorite pastime. A man of understanding gets his pleasure by conducting himself wisely; he delights in wisdom.) Fools enjoy doing wrong, but anyone with good sense enjoys acting with intelligence and showing discernment in wise thoughts and deeds. *****

Devotions @ 3 on 9-10-18

3 a.m. prayer:

Most gracious heavenly Father,

Good morning, and Welcome to my personal, Word Press blog! Look around this website and see what I have been up to for the last couple of years; read about my published books; find out about past and future book signings; ‘leave a need’ by clicking on the section titled, “Devotions @ 3”. Your prayer needs, and those of your family, are very important to me. Feel free to message me there or at the Kittye Sharron Message Center on Facebook.

Our Devotions @ 3 continues from the book of Proverbs: Contrasting Righteous and Wicked Lives! “It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it” (Proverbs 10:22).  Only the blessing of the Lord truly enriches a life. But the second part of the proverb says He adds no sorrow! Is it true that He adds no sorrow with it? Some of the most godly people pass through times of deep sorrow; take a look at our lengthy list of prayer requests! Does God send sorrow? No, all sorrow, sickness, and suffering comes from the evil one, the devil. God often permits suffering in the lives of His children but He is not the source; sorrow is apart from God’s blessings. When God physically blesses a godly person, He also takes care of the soul and prevents many sorrows, curses and temptations that would often accompany the outward prosperity of the ungodly. God doesn’t say there will be no problems; He promises to be with us during times of need, and provides His children wisdom to get through the worst of times. *****

//Standing Prayer: Always remembering our country, for restoration, our continued peace, and freedom; we ask that You grant wisdom and guidance to those who are in authority, and we pray; and for the protection of our men and women who are on the battlefield, we pray. Lord, heal our land, we pray. There are people in other parts of the world who need protection and relief as they are surrounded by war and poverty; also in need of rescue are Christians who are being persecuted, and we pray.

**REMINDER: **> September 19th @ 11:30, several in the group plan to meet and have lunch; details posted on “Devotions @ 3” Facebook page. For this upcoming gathering, we pray.

The parents are heart broken as well as others in the family who love her, and we pray. *>A sister prays for her brother who has an inoperable tumor near his aorta. He has been receiving treatments in which to shrink it, and having regular scans. Doctors believe the tumor is benign even though it showed inconclusive in the biopsy. A second opinion is being sought, and we pray.

Praises*> A dear lady reports that since the many back surgeries, she now feels wonderful. Her anemia is completely gone, blood work is normal, has recently been taken off oxygen, and is hopeful that very soon she will be able to stop using the walker and back brace. Happily, she lost a significant amount of weight; is doing great and giving all glory to God, and we rejoice; and for continued healing, we pray.
